ARTS & CULTURE
St. Ives is world-renowned as a centre for Arts & Culture. From a humble fishing village to an influential artist colony, St. Ives was transformed after WW1.
Today the legacy of artists such as Barbara Hepworth & Bernard Leach can be seen at their studios and forms the basis of the continuing Art scene in the town. Many galleries including Tate St. Ives can be enjoyed, all within walking distance.
St Ives is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with a multitude of nature trails to explore. The North coast is a birdwatchers paradise. The Hayle estuary is the most south westerly estuary in the UK, with unusual visitors stopping by to refuel. You can take boat trips from St. Ives to see seals, sunfish, dolphins, minke whales and giant basking sharks. There are two geological nature reserves of national importance within easy reach of St Ives.
Whatever the weather, St. Ives and Cornwall have a wealth of things to enjoy. Maybe visit an amazing garden one day, a gallery or museum another or perhaps something more active like walking the coast path, surf schools, cycling or horse riding. Or relax in a local spa, find a yoga class or sign up for a crafts workshop. There's so much to choose from!
St. Ives is lucky enough to have many excellent eateries, so you're in for a treat. We have a wide choice of award-winning restaurants, bars and cafes and access to the best local seafood, hand-reared livestock and organic fruit and veg.
